Our Friends of the Library Spring Book Sale starts today at 10AM! Come see what we have to offer this time around. The sale will go on until 5PM today and continues tomorrow, April 29, from 10AM-4PM and Monday, May 1, from 11AM – 6PM.
All proceeds will go to the Friends of the Library of Rutherford, which helps to fund our popular and fun children’s programs. Thanks to everyone who donated to the sale this time!
Today is the last day we will be accepting book donations for our Friends of the Library Spring Book Sale. All donations can be brought to the cart to the left of the front desk when you enter the library.
The library cannot accept textbooks, VHS or audio cassettes, magazines, or encyclopedias.
The book sale will be held tomorrow, April 28, from 10AM – 5PM, Saturday, April 29, 10AM – 4PM, and Monday, May 1, from 11AM – 6PM. The sale will be held in our auditorium. All are welcome to come shop! For more information, stop by or call the library at 201-939-8600.
We will not be holding our ESL class tomorrow. Class will continue Tuesday, May 2, at 10AM. See you then!
Beginning May 17, the Rutherford Public Library will host a four-week art program for differently abled children in grades 3-5. Each week, attendees will be introduced to a 20th century artist and will do a related art activity. The program will culminate with a gallery show at the library of all the children’s artwork, which will be mounted and displayed for public viewing.
Classes will be held the following Wednesdays from 4-5PM each week: May 17, 24, 31 and June 7. Space is limited and registration is required. A caregiver must register with each child. For more information, stop by the library or call 201-939-8600.
This program is made possible in part by a grant administered by the Bergen County Division of Cultural & Historic Affairs from funds granted by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
Tonight’s Film Tuesday screening will be of “Deepwater Horizon,” a film about the April 2010 offshore drilling disaster in the Gulf. All are welcome! The screening will be held in the Glass Room.

Our next round of computer classes begins the second week of May. Here’s what’s on the schedule for next month:
Tuesdays, May 9, 16, and 23, at 6:30PM: Intermediate Computers. This class is three sessions long and features the following topics: Saving and Organizing Files; Personalizing Your PC; and Troubleshooting. Sign up for one or all three!
Wednesdays, May 10-31, at 1PM: Social Media is back! Each session will cover a different social media platform. The schedule is as follows:

Don’t forget to come to the Rutherford Public Library for Bubblemania today! The show starts at 4PM and is for children ages 5 and up. All are welcome and no registration is required! The program has been funded by the Friends of the Library of Rutherford– thanks to our Friends!
Tomorrow, April 21, at 4PM, Seth Bloom will be with his Bubblemania show. This event is for ages 5 and up and no registration is required. Bloom is a professional entertainer with lots of experience performing in theaters, at festivals, libraries, schools, and in numerous countries around the world. His Bubblemania program includes a mix of bubbles and comedy. This program has been generously funded by our Friends of the Library of Rutherford.
All are welcome!
Part One of the Rutherford Public Library’s Ancestry Program will be held next Tuesday, April 25, at 1PM. The first part will focus on Ancestry.com, for which the library has an in-building subscription. The following week, Tuesday, May 2, at 1PM, attendees will learn about other ancestry programs that are available.

Due to the Rutherford schools being off this week, some children’s activities will be cancelled this week. All weekly events will resume next week, the week of April 24.
However, Bubblemania! will be held this Friday, April 21, at 4PM. All children age 5 and up are invited to come watch Seth Bloom’s bubble show! No registration is required. We hope to see you there!
