The Children’s Room

Our Children’s Department always has lots of fun programs going on. Below is a list of the current programs and dates:

Drop-in Storytime

Storytime with Miss Jane is held on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:30-11 AM. It includes stories, songs and fun! Storytime is for children from infants to 5 years old and their parents or caregivers. The dates for Storytime in April are: April 4, 5, 11, 12, 25, and 26. There will also be an after-school story time on Thursday, April 26, from 4:45-5:15 PM. Registration is never required for Storytime, and all are welcome! Make some new friends and get ready for reading!

 

Music and Movement

Miss Fran will again bring her singing, strumming, dancing and fun for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers this month. She will be visiting Fridays, April 6 and 13, from 11:15-11:45 AM. No registration is required.

 

Paws to Read

Does your new reader want to get practice with a very good and very furry listener? Rodney and Yogi will be visiting the library this month! Rodney, a Bright and Beautiful registered therapy dog, will come Monday, April 30, from 4-5 PM. Yogi will visit the library on Tuesday, April 10, from 4-5 PM.  Children who can read even a little bit and want the chance to practice their skills can sign up for a 15-minute time slot with either dog. Building with LEGO Blocks

This program is for children ages 4 and up. It will be held Wednesday, April 25, from 4-4:30 PM. We provide the LEGOs, your child brings their imagination! Registration is required.

 

 

Family Show Time

David Darwin’s “One Man Side Show” will come to the library on Friday, April 27, at 4 PM. Darwin appeared on the “America’s Got Talent” TV show. He will dance, juggle and sing for the audience at Rutherford. In addition, there will be plate spinning, ball spinning and unicycling! This program is recommended for ages 4-11 and there is no registration required.

Coming in May: Princess Storytime

Cinderella will be visiting the library next month! “Once Upon a Princess Storytime” will be held Saturday, May 12, from 1-2 PM. Cinderella will read stories, sing songs, and there will be a “meet and greet” time. Have your cell phone charged for that special photo! Princess Storytime is for ages 2-6.

 

To register for any program, please call the library at 201-939-8600. Preference is given to Rutherford residents, but residents from other towns are welcome to ask to be placed on the waiting list.
